RFID means “Radio Frequency Identification”, and Drews and Rogers creates RFID labels and tag labels that are commonly used by companies needing to track their inventory without using bar codes. RFID labels eliminate the need for “line of site scanning.” RFID saves labor and speeds processing.
An RFID tag is a microchip attached to an antenna that is packaged in a way that it can be applied to an object. The RFID tag picks up signals from and sends signals to a reader. The tag contains a unique serial number, but may have other information, such as a customers’ account number. RFID tags can be active, passive or semi-passive. The antenna is the conductive element that enables the microchip to send and receive data. An RFID reader is a device that have one or more antennae that send and receive signals back from the microchip that’s installed with RFID label or tag.
